CITpax has organised a number of meetings and discussions that are backed and funded by the European Union, aimed at building trust between Georgia and Abkhazia. These support meetings focus on the objective study of transversal technical issues grouped into four fields (human security, energy, regional economic development and the protection of the displaced persons and returnees). While these issues affect both the populations of Georgia and Abkhazia, they consciously leave aside the issue of Abkhazia’s territorial status, over which there is currently no possible understanding between the parties. One of the keys to the project is the organization of a mediation seminar to help with the specialized training of political leaders from Abkhazia and Georgia in conflict resolution, negotiation and mediation techniques.
